Adam Maru was a 36 year old Aboriginal male who suffered from epilepsy at the time of his disappearance.
At about 6pm on 30 November 1997 Adam went fishing with family at Point Torment, a popular remote fishing spot situated some 20km north of the Derby townsite. At some stage, Adam disappeared from the fishing camp, and was later reported missing.

Ryan McMillan, then 16, was last seen at Lithgow on 19 November 1997. Ryan was seen leaving his neighbour's house and has not been seen since this time. Police and family hold great concerns for his welfare.

Tony Clinch was last seen at Cairns Airport on 15 November 1997.
He departed Australia on JAL Flight 768 and arrived at Roissy Airport, France at 4.55 pm on 16 November 1997.
He was to travel to England to visit his aging parents but never arrived.
He has not been seen or heard from since. Clinch is a Veterans Affairs pensioner.

Jessica Beth Small was last seen in the Kelso area in the early morning of 26 October 1997.
The previous night, Jessica and a friend were at an amusement centre in Russell St, Bathurst, NSW. After leaving the amusement centre they walked around town for a short while before accepting a lift from an unknown male person.
The driver stopped the vehicle in Hereford Street and attempted to grab at both girls who managed to escape from the vehicle and run for help at nearby houses; however, Jessica did not make it to safety.
The Coroner has found Jessica was abducted against her will and died on or after 26 October 1997.
Jessica's death is suspicious and there is a $1,000,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Jessica's disappearance and suspected murder.

Neville Richards left Salisbury North, South Australia and was last heard of on 27 August 1997 at Dareton, New South Wales.
Has not made any contact with family and friends and concerns are held for his safety and welfare.

Between 1994 and 1997 Florabella Remakel, who at that time was known as Marion Barter, worked as a teacher at The Southport School (TSS) on the Gold Coast. In 1996 she won a statewide Queensland teaching excellence award.
Florabella changed her name from Marion Barter to Florabella Natalia Marion Remakel in May 1997 and obtained a new Australian passport in that name. She did not disclose her name change to her family and on 22 June 1997, she travelled to England for a planned holiday.
In late July or early August 1997, Florabella spoke to her daughter by phone and she indicated she was in the UK, making no mention of returning to Australia.
Florabella’s passport indicates she returned to Australia via Brisbane on 2 August 1997. She arrived back in the country contacting a male known to her. She failed to notify any of her family that she had returned.
On 13 August 1997, a Medicare card in the name of Marion Barter was used at an optometrist at Grafton Shopping World.
In October 1997, Florabella’s daughter received information that a bank account in the name of Marion Barter had been accessed in Byron Bay and Burleigh Heads. Enquiries also revealed that a further withdrawal was made at Ashmore in Queensland.
The last time Florabella was seen in Australia was in Byron Bay on 15 October 1997.
