Walter William Charter

Walter William Charter, known as Bob, was a serving member of the Armed Forces for two terms with the Australian Army during World War II. Bob served as a Trooper for 12 Motor Regiment in 1941-1942 and as a Private in the 23 Australian Infantry training Battalion from 1943-1946.

He was last seen around 1951 at which time he attended the Inverell show, and he was known to marry his wife Mona in 1952 in Warialda. Since this time, there has been no contact with Bob and his whereabouts remain unknown.

May Gwendoline Walton (nee TAYLOR), 29, was last seen on 8 November 1945 in the town of Warren NSW. It is unclear to her family if she left her husband and children willingly, never to return, or if she has met with foul play of some kind.

Eight-year-old Valerie Eastwell was last sighted after she was sent to her neighbour’s house on 15 August 1945 to deliver a message. She often went to this residence to play. The town (Gol Gol) had just received news that the war had ended, and everyone was celebrating. Since this time there has been no contact with Valerie, her whereabouts remain unknown.
